Diocese of Egba

Welcome to the official Web page of the Diocese of Egba which is situated in Ogun State. Inaugurated August 3, 1976. This Web page provides resources, directories, information and documents about the Diocese.
It is with much joy and thanksgiving that we celebrate yet another liturgical season of the Epiphany of our LORD JESUS, THE CHRIST, the Light of the nations, the Saviour of the world, and the Lord of all. May we experience more and more of His manifestation in our life as a Church, and may His heavenly light guide our nation into the blessings of true greatness in this year that leads to the fiftieth anniversary of our independence, and therefore our year of Jubilee.
Vision & Mission Statements
OUR VISION: EGBALAND (the first recipient of Christian faith in Nigeria) is to be totally evangelized and recover its primary status of being the agent of disseminating the message of Salvation in this country through the Gospel of Christ and provision of Social Amenities.

At the advent of Christianity in Nigeria, the first organized congregation was founded in January 4, 1843 when Mr. Henry Townsend (later Revd. Townsend) came into Abeokuta on the invitation of some Christian-returnees from Sierra Leone. The church established at that time has since
metamorphosed into what we know today as the Cathedral Church of St. Peter, Ake, Abeokuta.
